2 weeks ago 10 of us from the Chinese Group traveled for the first time to Guadamales, a jungle camp about 3.5 hours outside of Cuenca that houses a giant dam which makes electricity for the whole country. Why the sudden interest in the process of making electricity in EC?? Is there any other reason really? Chinese people of course! There are over a hundred living and working in the camp which is really more like it's own little city. You must enter with permission and so fortunately for us there are a brother and sister (and their 9 year old son) there running the camp hotel who showed us around and kindly fed our group of 10 breakfast (big job...). The Chinese speaking people are there working as engineers, manual laborers and interpreters and their work keeps them plenty during the day so we decided to take make our first visit a nighttime preaching tour AND the very best part: preaching in JEANS so as not to attract toooo much attention to ourselves which actually turned out to be pretty laughable when we got there and realized that was insanely impossible being as this is a camp of mostly Chinese and Ecuadorian men and we were a group consisting of mostly foreigners, the majority being girls...little awkward at first...anyway...we had some great success, especially in the dorms where the laborers stay! We arrived to Guadumales around 5:30, and went directly to the Comedor, where everyone eats, and caught a few people on their way out, placed some literature too. Then we went inside to have some dinner ourselves, but mainly we really we just on the lookout for more people to talk too. Looks like next time we might have to get there a bit earlier to "run into" them though - live and learn. After that, around 8, we headed up to the dorms. At first we really didn't know what to do or how to get in but somehow we ended up window witnessing and got invited into the building. My group of 5 (witnesses) ended up in one of the dorm rooms where there were at least a group of 8 Chinese guys listening to us but several others ended up coming in and out or passed by to see what was going on so we had a little audience to talk to. We showed them all scriptures and passed around our Bibles for them to read along. As you can imagine, it was the first time most of them had encountered the good news, let alone the Bible. We placed a stack of literature with them and even one Bible. I'd say a highlight though was when one of the guys followed us out and requested his own Bible!! That was thrilling! After that we headed off to the offices, around 9 p.m. There we got a few phone and had several good conversations..so paths we paved. Now we're super excited for our next trip! Seeing as how Guadumales is less than 4 hours from Cuenca it should be coming soon.

Very cool!! AND you were preaching in jeans - GREAT!! Were you thinking, what is this guy doing when he was following you out? Haha... I probably would have been thinking - Is he mad or something? But then for him to ask for a Bible... How wonderful!! Great post - thanks!!
