Welcome to Spanish 101 Cuenca-style. This is not your ordinary language class. Supplies: Notebook, Pen, Dictionary, Spanish Bible, Bible-based literature in Spanish and your lapel badge. Dress Code: Service attire. Please be warned that participation is not optional because while we are in a Kingdom Hall and you are dressed up this is not a meeting where no one will call on you unless you raise your hand. Please come ahead of time for association and just an FYI, refreshments will not be served but no one is trying to stop you from bringing enough coffee and pastries to share (now you know that this class is full of people who still dream Starbucks dreams at night even though they've been living without it for months, if not years). If you are in Cuenca supporting the English Congregation...this class is not for you. Don't forget to have fun and remember...You shall reap if you do not tire out...code for we are going to try to kill you with homework!
I guess my days of learning Spanish from watching TV in English with Spanish subtitles are over. Oh, wait that ended when I moved out of our super-sweet fully furnished apartment and into a place where our couch is an air-mattress...and there is, obviously, no TV.
And thus, it begins, foreign language class. I'm guessing it's going to consist of lots of laughs (the Americans seem obsessed with making fun of the Australian's English), plenty of snacks (brain food, ya know?) and O, yeah, learning. I'm excited and ready to commit to 7 hours of homework, plus an hour and half class per week.
We are with you all the way chica!
