I´ve basically been counting the days that I can leave Quevedo since I got here but the funny thing is that I just keep extending the stay. In the beginning I was supposed to leave this Thursday. Yesterday, after I had a really nice call on a young boy, I said, well, guess I´ll leave Friday so that I can make sure that I see him one more time and by this morning I figured that one last day (Friday) should make the stay complete. So, Saturday it is - leave day. Funny what good calls will do to you.
As I mentioned, yesterday we went to make an RV on a young kid who showed some interest in our magazinces the first time we visited, even demonstrating that he reads them by confirming he had heard Jehovah´s name before and that he knew that Jesus is God´s son. I left him with the article in the February Awake about whether science and the Bible are compatible and told him I would return to see if he had any questions. That was Saturday. Yesterday, Monday, we returned and no sooner could I ask him if he had any questions had he pulled out the magazine, turned to the article and read out loud the opening quote from the scientist but he read it not as a question, but more like a confirmation, more like that was all the proof he needed to believe that God does exist. I was floored! We read a couple of scriptures together and talked a little about how we can get to know God through creation and then started the study! Not only that but a little later in the afternoon we passed by his place again and saw him reading the Bible Teach Book!
This morning we had a fun little morning teaching some of the local girls some useful chinese phrases. We also went out for an hour. I wasn´t with her but Fernanda had a nice discussion with the Chinese man who has the daughter who is a Witness and the other one who wants to study. Fernanda came back from the morning more that happy! Since most of the Chinee people are available to talk in the afternoon we´ll spend this afternoon doing some RVs.
On a non-service oriented note, there is a bailoterapia class half a block from the apartment! It´s making being here a little more doable too! I went for the first time last night with a couple of super fun sisters and plan on going again tonight.
Woah Damaris - what with the brain meltdown on Sunday I really think learning bailoterapia is not gonna do your brain any favors!!!! LOL - I have no idea what that even is, but it sounds like another language...I'm sure it must be some sort of excerise though, knowing you -HA!
ReplyDeletehahah!! Too funny! No, it´s totally an exercise-dance class. It´s a real escape, trust, me I need it! I´ll be teaching when I get back in case anyone is interested!
